Diamondbacks acquired LHP Doug Davis, LHP Dana Eveland and OF Dave Krynzel from the Brewers for C Johnny Estrada, RHP Claudio Vargas and RHP Greg Aquino.

Why are MLB teams so money crazy?

Here is a prime example of why contracts are getting out of hand…

The Giants swung and missed at another free agent, and this time they took the mightiest of cuts.

According to a well-placed source, they offered Carlos Lee what would have ranked as the largest contract in franchise history — $112 million over six years — but the All-Star outfielder rebuffed them to sign a six-year, $100 million deal with the Houston Astros on Friday.

Teams are getting an average of an extra $12MM/season now that they’ve approved their new television deal and feel the need to just go batshit crazy with doling out offers. Simply amazing…

Giants to land OF Dave Roberts

It came down between the Brewers and the Giants…

It appears the Milwaukee Brewers have finished as the runner-up in the contest to sign free-agent centerfielder Dave Roberts.

Reports Friday out of San Francisco indicated that Roberts was prepared to sign a three-year contract with the Giants. He supposedly had narrowed his choices to Milwaukee and San Francisco.
