According to ESPN’s Sports Center, the Chicago Bears have dealt running back Thomas Jones to the New York Jets. This move means that Cedric Benson will be the lone stater in Chicago next season, barring a further move.

According to a report by ABC53 in Lansing, Michigan (and followed up by ProFootBallTalk.com), wideout free agent Kevin Curtis has fired his agent Tom Condon after the agent failed to finalize a deal with the Detroit Lions over the weekend.

ProFootballTalk states that Curtis can still negotiate the contract on his own, but can’t hire an agent for five days.

Police say Artest’s wife called the authorities on Monday morning to report an incident.

Henry signs on with the Broncos

Adam Schefter of the NFL Network is reporting that running back Travis Henry, formerly of the Tennessee Titans, has signed on with the Denver Broncos on Monday.

Henry’s deal is said to include $12 million in guaranteed money.

Other news and notes from Schefter:

  • St. Louis’ free agent wide receiver Kevin Curtis is scheduled to meet with the New York Giants.
  • Tampa Bay and wideout Joey Galloway agreed to a restructured contract that pays $7.5 million over three years and 3.1 million in guaranteed cash.
  • Joe Horn, formerly of New Orleans, is set to travel to Atlanta for a free agent visit.
  • Free agent QB Brad Johnson is touring Valley Ranch and the Cowboys and will decide between the ‘Boys and the Broncos, whom he visited earlier.

The Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday declared an impasse in negotiations with the city of Pittsburgh and the state of Pennsylvania for financing of a new arena in downtown Pittsburgh.

The Penguins ownership group, led by hockey great Mario Lemieux and billionaire Ron Burkle, will now be “aggressively pursuing relocation”.

Reports are surfacing from the Great Wide North that members of the National Hockey League Players Association have filed complaints that their email accounts have been tampered with by executives.

Sources told The Toronto Star that police are looking into allegations that the techies at the NHLPA have been blocking and accessing players’ email accounts on the NHLPA.com servers.

Packers chasing running back Bell (PFT)

Sources tell ProFootballTalk.com that the Green Bay Packers, in need of a running back now that Ahman Green has jumped ship to the Houston Texans, have now set their sights on landing running back Tatum Bell from the Detroit Lions in a trade.

With Detroit talking to T.J. Duckett visiting Detroit, PFT speculates that might be what pushes the Lions into trading the recently acquired Bell.
