Texans’ David Carr released

The Houston Texans have released quarterback David Carr, just days after acquiring Matt Schaub from the Atlanta Falcons.

According to the NFL Network’s Adam Schefter, the team not only released David Carr, but they also released running back Dominick Williams (nee Davis).

According to the Associated Press, FIFA officials have discussed the possibility of ending its continental rotation of placing the World Cup fútbol tourney after the 2014 event is held.

ESPN, Olympics lead race for sports Emmys (Reuters)

The nominations for the annual sports Emmys were announced on Friday.  Cable network ESPN and the Olympics lead the nominations with 26 and 10, respectively.

FOX Sports broadcaster (and local St. Louis guy) Joe Buck nabbed two nominations for play-by-play and studio host.

83 wins.

That’s all it took for the St. Louis Cardinals to win the National League Central in 2006. In fact, the division came down to that last day of the season: the Houston Astros failed in their bid to unseat the Cardinals on the final Sunday against the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis lost their final game against Milwaukee, thus ‘backing’ into the post-season (as all the media said back then).

So let’s see what has changed since 2006 to possibly (hopefully) make this division a bit better in 2007:
